Unreliable
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this Blu Ray about 8 months ago and it worked great for about 4 months. Picture quality was excellent with Blu Rays and standard DVD's. Then for no apparent reason it just stopped playing DVD's. I don't own that many Bluray discs but I have quite a few DVD's and none of them will play. I've tried 2 firmware updates since the problem began and they have not helped. I am extremely disappointed with Samsung since they say this is not something that a firmware update will fix so I have to send it to them for repair. Of course the warrantly on parts is for a year but labor is only covered for the first 3 months. $150 for labor is not worth it particularly since I have to pay to ship it to them. Stay away from this Samsung Bluray.

A good performing blu-ray player
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this bluray player because I thought it was the best deal for a blu-ray player. Picture quality is very good and blu-ray movies do look sharp and dvds look better and sharper(but not hd though). The sound is okay but not the best. Set-up was easy just as you would expect from any blu-ray/dvd players. The only negative thing is that sometimes it would show a green screen when I turn it on. But its not a big deal, I just turn it off then unplug it for about 10 seconds, plug it back in, and boom works fine again. Overall a pretty good blu-ray player especially for its price. Just be cautious though when you buy this unit because many people have reported problems about this blu-ray player. Nevertheless, I recommend this blu-ray player.

A Samgsung disappointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Blu-ray player refurbished online because I have had great success with Samsung products in the past. It had great overall reviews on Amazon.com which had almost 4000 reviews. I bought at Best Buy because I have always trusted them and wanted to know that I would receive excellent service and support (which I did). After updating the before and after updating the firmware (which was extremely easy), the picture was awesome but the audio did not match up. I spent more time paying attention the voices than actually paying attention to the movie. I would not recommend buying this player. Although it was easy to use and update, who wants a player that doesn't work perfectly. I will be going back to Best Buy to buy a more updated Blu-ray player.

Spend the extra money.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a cheap Blu -ray player but I would not indorse it at all.The picture was good on it, but the audio was not in sync with the video. This was very annoying, I found myself watching the people in the movie talk more then I was watch the film. And after about 30 minutes it got very hot because the player has no internal fan.

What a deal!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this player for a new Samsung 720p HDTV I bought for the bedroom. I wanted the cheapest player I could find because I have a home theater in my living room (Dennon AVR (from BB) with a Panasonic Blu-ray bd35 (also from BB) hooked to a projector+screen). So this was a second blu-ray player for me. I was very happy to get Samsung at that price, and I like refurbs because it means it has been inspected and tested by a human. The box it came in was pretty beat up(probably shipping) but player was in perfect condition. Setup was really easy, to do firmware upgrade I used the composite cable that came with it to hook it to an old TV close to my router; but you can also go to the website and burn a firmware CD. Then I just brought it to the bedroom and plugged it in to my HDTV with a spare HDMI cable, and started watching, I did not even go through the setup menu. Already watched three Blu-ray movies in a row when it got here and everything worked beautifully, and the picture is amazing. This is a very fast loading player compared with my other BD player and it looks nicer, what a deal!

Samsung Blu-ray players are junk, don't buy!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom line, the unit will only play DVD's with skipping issues. It will not play Blu-ray, even after the latest firmware - 12/18/09. Samsung is not supporting issue. There is an common error - 'Unable to play' disk. Don't be duped into buying this junk!

JUNK
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.worked great for 5 mo and then quit playing blue-rays. I installed new firmware but it still won't read blue-rays plays cd &DVD ok. Warranty is only 90 days on labor so it will cost over 150 to fix and there are a ton of refurbished units for 139.99 at best buy. know you know why

Q: QuestionUSB?Can I connect my HD camcorder up to the player through the USB to watch my recorded video?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I'm sorry, but the P1500 does not support connectivity through a USB to a camcorder or other external device. On the other Samsung BD players, there is some USB device connectivity, but none of the units support a camcorder unless the camcorder saves it's movie files as an avi format. -MrSamsung
