Synopsis

United 93
Bloody Sunday director Paul Greengrass marks the five-year anniversary on the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States with this speculative meditation on the events that took place onboard the fourth hijacked plane, and the actions of the passengers who gave their lives to ensure the safety of others. Told in real time and acted out by a cast of unknowns who were provided with detailed studies of their real-life counterparts, United 93 attempts to reconstruct the airborne tragedy from the view of the ground and flight controllers, the passengers, and their nervous families awaiting word on the fate of their loved ones. As the terrified travelers and crew gradually become aware of the historical events taking place on the ground so far beneath them, the 90 minutes in which a random collection of strangers realized their fate and came together to confront an unthinkable threat are re-created. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Movie is GREAT! Why so much $ on blu ray?

United 93 tells more than the story of those people who were on United 93 on September 11, 2001. It tells the story of the air traffic controllers, the military response, the hijackers, and more. It is an extremely well made film and it puts you into places that you were never aware about. It tells of specific events on 9/11 that the news media never told about. It comes across as a documentary, not as a film, which adds to the tension and overall feel of the film. I have a hard time watching this film, but I watch it because it reminds me of what happened, what heroes do in an almost impossible situation, and what we are capable of as human beings on the positive and the negative side. If you haven't seen United 93 for some reason, WATCH THIS MOVIE. Many people in the film are played by the actual people who were doing the job on 9/11. Authenticity was very important and the director (Paul Greengrass of Bourne Supremacy and Bourne Ultimatum) actually asked each family member about doing the film before actually shooting the film. This movie was made in memory of those aboard United 93 and all those who lost their lives or lost someone on 9/11. Again, WATCH THIS MOVIE!!

A narrative shot like a documentary and even including actual people who were doing their jobs that fateful day within the film. This is kind of rare to see. Paul Greengrass did an excellent job trying to tell the right story of actually what happened on 9/11 between the communications of the United States and piecing together any bit of evidence that was available. Generally a tribute movie is usually not a great idea so soon after this incident, and rightfully so, but with the permission of the families that are portrayed in the film giving their blessing, Greengrass gave something that helps us grieve together. I think that it what makes this movie unique.

    Great Emotional Movie

This is the best way to revisit this horrorable time in American history, because you already know whats gonna happen but the director shows a behind the scenes look at the FAA, New York Airport Tower, and Air Force as they try to find out what is happening. Director Paul Greengrass should have won an Oscar for vision, and overall Best Picture.

This emotional film is even more difficult to watch because it is actually a true story. Because it is a true story, I consider it a must watch for every American. We shall never forget 9/11. Outstanding sound and picture quality make for a very immersive viewing experience.

This movie combines edge of your seat action and suspense along with a heartwarming and emotionally moving ending of courage and selflessness in the face of adversity. The passengers are heroes and made the ultimate sacrifice. Excellent acting and recreation of events.

This movie is very hard to watch. But it is a testament to the extreme bravery of the heroic individuals that gave their lives saving no telling how many others.
