I bought this to replace an older 36" rca soundbar for my wife's living room (we have his and hers, it's great). I wanted to get her an upgrade, but nothing over the top because I already have a good pioneer elite 9.2 with polks setup in my room.
I knew from experience that having a center channel would be a game changer, and a center at this price point was the deciding factor in this purchase. Out of the box, the sound is flat. It's just a wall of sound without distinct dialog, like a traditional soundbar. However, after some adjustment, it sounds great. Nice mids, dialog is crisp and clear, the highs are adjustable and not harsh. The sub doesn't get low low, but it gives you the depth you need and blends perfectly with the setup. Without it, this setup would seriously be lacking. It's in a 12x14 room that is pretty open and it does well, but I imagine this thing would perform much better in a closed space.
The remote is cheap and clicky, but not overly so. The led display is small and needs ambient light to see, but I'm still kind of impressed because there are a decent amount of options. Treble, bass, center volume, subwoofer volume, surround balance and volume, a volume booster, 3 sound modes (best left in movie mode), night mode and others. Impressive in this price range.
I bought some decent stands for the rears from a large online retailer for less than twenty bucks and they turned out very well. The rears are corded and plug into the wall powered sub which connects wirelessly to the soundbar. Essentially, no wires from front to back, thank goodness. The wire length for the rears is 15~ ft each. The rears include attachable wall brackets.
You should be aware that while it does accept most inputs and includes the required cables to do so, the surround sound is very limited. You're not going to be getting any true surround or high definition audio such as dolby digital+ or atmos nor should you expect to at this price point. To be fair, most people couldn't tell the difference regardless.
Overall, the sound quality is great for the money; just have to play with the settings until you get it dialed in for your space. It's so much better than what my wife previously had, and it's honestly better than the Yamaha soundbar in our master that costs twice as much. However, it doesn't come close to competing with a traditional 3k+ setup, so keep your expectations reasonable.
