When Flat Games Get Dimensional Good Things Happen

Paper Mario is a good mix of traditional Mario gameplay, with RPG battle elements that require planning and specific attacks on enemies that are only vulnerable to specific elements. The game is very easy early on, but this sticker based attack system requires not only timing, but also many trips back to town to purchase specific attacks, otherwise certain mini bosses are virtually impassible. The game is fun and looks great. Seeing the flat sticker characters on a 3 Dimensional plane is very cool looking. A cute fun game for kids with a little side helping of challenging battles for us RPG fans and bigger kids (adults).

I enjoyed the first 2 paper mario games for the N64 and Gamecube the most. When they strayed away from that in the wii one I didn't enjoy it as much. This one is closer to the first 2, which I was happy to see.

Paper Mario's 3D effect really stands out. The game is different from other Mario titles, but is fun enough to keep you entertained. Great value!

This is a decent game in the Paper Mario series. I do enjoy playing it, but the pacing is a little slow. Worth a shot if you get a chance.

This looks like a Paper Mario game. It even acts like a Paper Mario game, somewhat superficially. But compared to previous entries in the series, which had companions and alternate protagonists in addition to Mario, and dozens of original characters, this one has only one original character who serves as constant companion. Battles are annoying due to stickers that disappear on use, but you can walk past pretty much any of them without penalty since there's no level up or experience system. Special "Thing Stickers" are highly effective in battle and needed for puzzles and boss battles, but are expensive to replace, and you never know which one to use on a boss going in. The hint system is near-useless.
Puzzles are challenging, however, and there are lots of collectibles to find. That was enough to keep me going for 30-40 hours, but I won't be re-playing this game anytime soon.
If you haven't already, play Paper Mario, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, or Super Paper Mario instead.

The series is fun and this one does the Paper Mario idea good yet somehow not as fun as the home consoles. The stickers thing is a pretty brilliant addition, though. I bought this at $8 so it was a great bargain for just a fun-loving and different Mario experience. Highly enjoyable, not groundbreaking.
