Put this on my 16 year olds car with his knowledge. He saw how it worked and what it records. He now knows that driving is a privilege and it can be taken away if he isn't responsible. So far so good.

Solid Successor to Automatic

I had been using Automatic for several years and replaced it with Zubie. There are several advantages so far. 1. Zubie actually has a sense of the different speed limits on roads and does not have an arbitrary mind set of 70. 2. Zubie actually has better calibration of feedback through the monitoring port than Automatic to get status on the car battery, braking (we get a lot of short lights, ergo hard stops in my area). 3. The app is a bit easier to use with multiple driver support, and more informative feedback.
While there are positive, there is room for improvement. Many of the features today require you to use their web interface or a third party application, like IFTTT (which was also true of Automatic). I primarily use these to track my vehicle mileage for expense reporting. Automatic did a nicer job of tracking origination/destination and mileage along with automated trip stitching. Zubie requires me to identify all the legs of the trip and manually merge them, which is a bit of a pain. The output and options that are supported through IFTTT to get this exported in an automated form to an excel spreadsheet to my dropbox account are pretty weak, which makes this less of a good choice for a business user
This is a good choice for someone who's more focused on monitoring their car's battery and basic diagnostic information with relatively strong characteristics about driver performance to improve how they drive. This is not, however, a GPS tracking device. These are all diagnostic devices with basic monitoring. .

I just started using this 2 days ago, so I don't have a great deal of experience with it yet.
That being said- the set up was super easy and just took minutes. The App has lots of useful information, such as fuel usage, braking, speed etc. The stats on each driving trip are interesting to see.
I may try it out in other family members cars as a matter of comparing their driving habits to mine.

A must for parents with teenage drivers.
Not only does this give you tracking information on location and driver habits but also vehicle information/status including gas consumption per trip. The app on the phone (android or apple) is handy, but can be annoying so make sure you do not select too many alert reports when you set it up. The Web applications is just as nice with more history information
Only one con; I thought that you would pay the $99 for the Zubie unit and the services would be included, but you need to sign up for $99/year charge for the service. A little steep!

We purchased device to help ensure our teen driver is a safe driver. This device tracks location, speed, braking, mileage, and more. Very easy to use and install. NOTE - It does not work on all vehicles. Also you cannot hide it from your teen knowing about it. The device hooks up under dashboard area to the fuse unit of vehicle.

Excellent Tool for Young Drivers

First, This would be a 5 star product if Zubie used a better source for their speed limits. I have a new driver, and I have shared the interface with her. On her first drive, I received several major speeding alerts, but when I reviewed, the speed limits were wrong. One warning came early on for doing 23 MPH over the speed limit, but upon review, she was doing 39 in a 45. Zubie had the speed limit at 16 MPH. It usually registers hard stops that are normal stops that encounter bumps such as Rail Road tracks. But, overall, I recommend the product as a great way to keep an eye on the car diagnostics, fuel levels, location, etc.
I understand Progressive uses this same product for their 6 month driving review. I would be concerned as it shows my daughter having a driver rating of 72 due to her "excessive" speeding due to incorrect speed limits and excessive hard stops due to the rail road tracks near my house.
Understand that the price only includes device and first year of service. It is $99 per year after, but I think that is a fair price as the device does not require being paired with a phone to send updates. Communications are near real time and usually accurate on location.

I purchased this as a way to keep up with my teenage son. Easy to install in took less than a minute. Easy to set up. Although you can't monitor their speed, you can set alerts that notify you when the vehicle exceeds a certain speed. You can set up geofencing. It also monitors hard breaking and fast start or quick acceleration. Very accurate location, but sometimes having problems picking up location while vehicle is moving.
The added bonus that I wasn't expecting is that Zubie monitors the battery and engine! This is a great tool for any parent with teen drivers. It lets me give my teen a little more freedom without constantly calling or texting him. If he is driving, I don't want him talking on the phone or texting. I can always pull up the location of his car to find out if he's at school, work, gym or his girlfriends. It gives trip details like idle time, start time and location, and arrival time at destination.
Another thing I love about the Zubie- it includes the first year of service in the price of purchase unlike some of the others I looked into. I'm actually purchasing one for each of the family cars!

I wish This was around when my kids were driving, very accurate GPS heads up display on your iPhone Plus it's a challenge every day to get the best driving score. Drawback is credit card required to register product , and they assume that you will renew at $99 per year. I paid $59 for the unit and even bought a second for my other vehicle. Then they tell you one unit can be transferred between vehicles, good product just watch the fine print .
