  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: false (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)

Q: What are the main differences between this model and the SHE3AR75UC functionally? It looks like the SHE3AR75UC has a self clean filter and this one doesn't? Are the status sensors, tub/side materials, etc all the same?

A: The answer from the Bosch representative is incorrect. Both models have a sanitize operation. This model (the newer 100 series) has a Rinse cycle, whereas the older model Ascenta series (misidentified on the Best Buy website as 100 series) has a Half Load cycle. Also, this model has a small Utility Rack above the upper rack for longer items, like kitchen knives, whisks, spatulas, etc.

Q: how long does a normal wash cycle require? Our daughter's is over two hours, which I consider to be excessive.

A: Hi Nanc. Thank you for your question. Here is the time for the normal wash cycle for the 100 Series Front Control Dishwasher.:Normal 130 - 135 minutes.

Q: Where is the steam vent located on this model?

A: Hi Beckarena. Thank you for your question. The 100 Series Dishwasher is a completely sealed system with no vents or fans. It has Condensation Drying. The final rinse uses high-temperature water to make the dishes very hot. The stainless steel tub of the dishwasher cools faster than your dishes because stainless steel cools faster than glass and porcelain. Condensation occurs when the moist air in the dishwasher comes into contact with the cooler stainless steel tub, and turns into water droplets. These water droplets trickle down to the bottom of the dishwashers and are drained. Since it’s a closed system with no fan, the cleaning process is more sanitary. With no exposed heating element, plastic utensils and dishes places on the lower rack will not melt. The use of rinse agents, such as Jet Dry®, aids the condensation drying process by reducing the surface tension of water. This in turn allows the water on your dishware surfaces to run off more freely, so they dry better.

Q: Hi, Does this unit possess hard food disposal? What additional parts are required for purchase to make this dishwasher fully functional? thx

A: No, this model does not have a food disposal feature. It has a filter that you will need to empty occasionally. Quieter dishwashers have moved away from food disposals as they were noisy.

Q: What is the shipping carton dimensions for this unit I need to haul it in my SUV

A: Hi there. Thank you for your question. The shippping carton dimensions for Model:SHEM3AY56N are approximately 39" H, 29" W and 28" D.

Q: What do i need to do for the dishes to dry after cycle. Is there something i am missing.

A: Bosch dishwashers have no heating element in the tub to dry dishes. They just use superheated water during the last rinse so that they dry naturally inside the tub. You have to let them sit for several hours before they are completely dry. But this method minimizes damage to dishes and glassware since heating elements can ruin things.
