Customers are impressed with the ease of use of H&R Block Tax Software Premium, noting its ability to transfer prior-year tax information and its user-friendliness compared to competitors. Many also appreciate the software's affordability and consider it a good value. Positive feedback also highlights the accuracy and reliability of the software for tax filing. The software's thoroughness and up-to-date tax law information are frequently praised.
I've been using the H&R Block Tax Cut software products for more than 10 years, with one attempt to use TurboTax several years ago. Obviously, I prefer the H&R Block series. I've been satisfied with the interface, the content, the ease of following it and the thoroughness of the Federal and California products. One note: I also use it to create a Minnesota return, and have not been as satisfied with the State product for Minn. On a few occasions over the last few years, it has sent me out of the software to track down certain Minn. forms, figure out how to complete them and what I need to take from them to input into the H&R Block software. I guess this is understandable - a product may not be able to cover all situations in all 50 states - but I don't think the situations were that out of the ordinary. I wish they'd beef up the Minn. state product but, as I mentioned, I use CA as the primary state product, and have been very pleased. I intend to continue using H&R Block.

I have been using H&R Block tax software now for a few years. I does a good job walking you through the steps needed to complete your filings for both federal and state obligations. I went to using it from the Intuit product because of price and I am satisfied.

If you're doing your taxes yourself, you'll need either H&R Block (formerly TaxCut) or TurboTax. I've used both in the past, and both are good enough at the common things, with gaps at the less common things--especially on the state taxes. There is actually a question in the state interview which essentially asks you if you need to file a form. Huh?--isn't the point of the interview to figure that out for you? But I had a similar experience with TurboTax so those failures don't set one apart from the other. Ultimately, the choice for me comes down to price and this year Block won when it was on sale.
