Q: Do these speakers need to be mounted in an enclosure aka box?
A: You could mount them in a box, I just replace my old speakers. The stinger speakers were slightly bigger than my old ones. says 6 1/2 but I had to cut the hold a little bigger. They do sound great.
A: The grille holds the tweeter and is not removable.
A: These speakers are element and splash resistant, but are not "waterproof." They can not be completely submerged.
