A: Hello Yellow! That means it is time to change the water filter in your Refrigerator. Thank you for your inquiry on our Whirlpool appliances.
Q: Does it have leveling legs, ice maker cutoff, removable grille, unit cut off switch
A: I will answer my own questions. Whirlpool, in spite of some very inexpensive but very annoying omissions, it is a beautiful well functioning appliance, but why do you try to save $10 of cost by cutting corners? 1) No, there are no leveling legs. Repairman said they use to have them but now leave them off. Since the unit is on wheels, I had to put stick-on felt pads in front of unit to keep it from rolling out each time I open it. Fortunately, my floor was fairly level but some are not. Very bad shortcut. 2) The ice maker has a cut off but you have to remove the whole unit to access the cut off. A full tray is very heavy and can easily break plastic slides. It is also very difficult to remove and the repairman had to show me how to do it. Very poor design. 3) The bottom grille is removal but there are no instructions in the manual. Repairman had to show me. It is necessary to remove the grille for vacuuming the dust under the unit. 4) The user manual is generic and not specific to the unit. Very bad shortcut. 5) Upon delivery most of the plastic shelves were stuck in place. The repairman had to lubricate them. One shelf particularly shifted side to side when pulling out the bin under it. The repairman said they use to have a post on both sides of the shelf support but eliminated one so the shelf now shifts on that side. He said the only way to repair was to drill a hole for a new post. Nope!! However, I noticed the shelf is not quite wide enough to fit snuggly and is about the thickness of a car door edge. So I went to an auto shop, bought 2 lengths of clear vinyl door edge guard, and pressed onto edge of glass shelf. Wala, shelf fits tightly and no more shifting. Very bad shortcut with a very cheap fix. 6) No unit cut off switch. If you need to cut off the unit for cleaning, you either have to roll out unit and unplug from the wall (that can create an arc) or use the house circuit breaker. Very bad shortcut. 7) I wish there had been more shelf supports for more flexible shelf arranging. Here you are basically stuck with the shelves placed as they thought they should be. With my old Samsung you could place shelves in all sorts of combinations. Here I had to take out one shelf completely so I could put 2 liter bottles at the bottom to save lifting, and the plastic door shelves do not look strong enough to hold lots of drink bottles.
Q: HOW NOISY IS THIS REFRIGERATOR? wHAT IS THE NOISE RATING?
A: I don't know what the rating is, but I find it noisy. Seems as if it runs all the time. I find it annoying.
Q: what kind of compressor does whirlpool-24.6FT side by side model use? Is it a linear compressor?
A: I do not believe this model fridge has a linear compressor. It's my understanding after talking with our appliance repairman, that LG and Samsung are the 2 companies using linear compressors. Our LG compressor just failed and this Whirlpool is one he recommended. He said when the LG and Samsung fridges work, they're nice. But they have a high failure rate which is caused by the way the linear compressor operates. It boils the oil and causes the seals to prematurely fail which in turn burns the compressor up. When we had him out to look at our LG, he told us that even if we had wanted him to replace the compressor, he wouldn't do it because neither company has fixed this longstanding issue and likely we'd be replacing the compressor again in 2-3 years.
Q: Can a small demogorgon fit in this refrigerator?
A: In my experience, yes. But it will eat all your butter
Q: Is it possible to by-pass the filter as I have a whole house RO filter?
A: Yes, you can take the water filter out completely and the water and ice features will still function.

A: This is not true! The doors need to be leveled. I had the same experience. One of my delivery men was only on the job 11 days and the other 5 days. They were never taught how to level refrigerator doors. They spent 1.5 hours at my home, calling everyone they could possibly call, to figure out how fix this. They finally got a call back from someone in the company who walked them through this. One individual they called told them to "Google It". So unprofessional!!! I felt so bad for these two new delivery men. They were persistent in not leaving me with the refrigerator that way and they did get it fixed. Kudos to them and shame on Best Buy for putting their employees in such a situation.

Pros and cons for this model: Pros: 1. The stainless steel finish tends to match other non-Whirlpool kitchen products. The fridge doesn’t necessarily look out-of-place when placed with other brands. 2. Decent price and seemingly frequently on sale although I had to wait until Black Friday to get the best price. 3. Best Buy seemed to offer the best extended warranty program. My previous refrigerator lasted 20 years; all signs point to more recent refrigerator offerings not lasting as long, especially in lieu of digital controls over old-school knob controls. Out of all the available offerings as well as all the competition, I went with the manufacturer, retailer and warranty program that pointed to getting the most mileage out of a big-ticket appliance. Best Buy's offerings had the best that I could find, all things considered. Appliances Manager Levi offered some great assistance as well as fielding twenty questions about everything imaginable, so "Hat's Off!" to great customer assistance at the point of sale. 4. Handles are installed by a setscrew in a recess hole. The obvious discipline is to lubricate both recess and threads of the Allen (hex key) screws before the handle installation to ensure any future removal, if necessary. Some manufacturers and models are not as user-friendly as this one. Cons: 1. If the buyer has to remove the doors in order to get it into the house, be prepared for a challenge. The owner’s manual showed the incorrect screws to remove at the top hinges. The bottom has water connection hoses and brackets that you may need to photograph in order to make sure reconnection is done properly. Even the guys in the YouTube video about removing the doors on this exact same model complained about the lack of proper engineering behind this door application. Be prepared if you, too, have to remove the doors. Add to that screws on the bottom of the skids in the shipping assembly have to be removed. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to have two people when unpacking this refrigerator as it has to be tipped up and get as much weight off the bottom in order to remove the plastic skids. 2. Other manufacturers and models had better space accommodations in the freezer department around the top where the ice maker is located. Some space is wasted for accommodating the front of the ice maker where other models have an additional shelf for food storage. 3. No cantilever shelves in the refrigerator for user-designated, at-will shelf height. Whirlpool shelves—at least on this model—are all fixed-height. They do offer an additional crisper drawer, which is nice. It would be nicer to have multiple built-in cantilever brackets and shelves, especially around holiday times where some larger food items like turkeys can be better accommodated for the time being. After the larger items are used, shelf heights can be quickly restored to previous levels. It would be easy for Whirlpool to reconfigure and add cantilever shelves and shelf brackets. 4. Kinda weird temperature control. The best end-user discipline for getting the most mileage out of an appliance is to set the temp controls where the refrigerator keeps food at optimum storage temps while not making it work too hard to do so. Out of the five available settings for each compartment, my freezer temp is set at the lowest level and the temp still bottoms out at zero degrees. On the other hand, the refrigerator temp control is set at level 3 and the temp stays about 32 to 33 degrees.; i.e., not cold enough to freeze but easily cold enough to keep milk and food at least up to an expiration date without going bad. While those temps at that level aren't bad, it would appear that the controls and system for the refrigerator compartment have to work harder to keep the best temp. It would be better if the end-user could set BOTH compartment levels at the lowest setting(s) and still get the desired temps for both the best (and longest) possible food storage while making it possible for the refrigerator to not work as hard to get those temps. The less the refrigerator has to work, the longer it would last.

In general after 3 weeks it works properly no Big issues as I read on some reviews before: no noisy and not moving when u open the doors. Only issue is: the water drops after use the water dispenser. It is normal some drops due the dispenser system and the tray it suppose it is to collect that water drops. But in this model the water dispenser is in front and ice dispenser on the back the water drops fall on the border of the tray. So the drops jumps to the floor or slide down on the door. We use a lot the water dispenser so we must be cleaning the water drops from the floor or door which is annoying!!! Other than than no more issues
