The album feels dead before it even begins

I've listened to every Xiu Xiu album ever made, you know? So naturally I had to pre-order Angel Guts: Red Classroom on high quality virgin vinyl. Their last album "Always" was a breath of fresh air, proving that Jamie Stewart was still able to successfully shock the listener, and that he still had a few tricks up his sleeve. But one must ask themselves, "How much more depressing and shocking can you get, after releasing more than a half dozen albums drowned in darkness, and dry of mirth?" Let me say, the song Black Dick is hilarious though. I know it's not intended to be, but it gave me and my best friend Leet Larry quite a couple of chuckles. With Xiu Xiu, the lyrics are primarily grim, and perverted and Angel Guts is no exception. I don't see Stewart outdoing himself anymore in this department. On their debut album Knife Play, Stewart sent a deep chill down your spine when he shouts, "I am going to cut open your forehead with a roofing shingle." on the track "I Broke Up." Long are those days over, and it feels like there is absolutely no focus on this album whatsoever. The sounds are layered to the point of being blinding to the point of numbness. The opening track "Angel Guts" feels dead and pointless, and is pretty much a good way to sum up the entire album. For once I agree with Leet Larry. This album sucks. Also worth noting, the sleeve has already become unglued and is falling apart and I haven't even had it for a week. Unacceptable.
