I was coming from an iPhone 6 Plus originally that just so happened to have screen damage the month I paid it off (typical) so instead of getting it repaired, I reverted back to my iPhone 5 (regular) and said I'd wait for the next release. Since the X was announced alongside the 8/8 Plus, I opted to wait even longer for the X and I'm glad I did. The look of the phone is top notch and the quality is definitely solid. Keep in mind I'm coming from something much older where the quality standards, while high at the time, pail in comparison to today's iPhone.
I've had the iPhone X for six days now and don't even remember what using that Home button (that I've been using since the iPhone 3GS) is like. You'll forget it soon enough, too. The gestures are still very natural. I always hated how large the Plus model felt in my hands as doing anything "one-handed" was impossible, even using reachability. I feel that the X is a great balance between the non-Plus models and the Plus models and I did turn on reachability (it is turned off by default) to help reach some of the upper portions of the screen as I like using the phone one-handed.
Next to my wife's iPhone 7 Plus, the screen size is virtually the same between the two, while the X's form factor is overall smaller, which is real nice. The "notch" along the top edge of the screen isn't an issue for me, as it seems to be for some. Within time, third-party apps will adopt the new resolution and everything will be seamless when switching applications. I have no qualms about the display's brightness either, as I find myself setting it to the lowest setting quite frequently. It's very bright! The only con I would give for the screen is that the refresh rate is lower than I expected, as I sometimes catch the screen flicker slightly with the naked eye as the oLED refreshes.
I've never had Touch ID, so I cannot legitimately compare it to Face ID, but I can say that Face ID is very quick and intuitive. It was easy to setup and can be reset easily if desired. With Face ID, if there are notifications present and someone picks up your phone, they can only see what app is pushing the notification. The instance they hand the phone to you and you look at it, the specific notifications populate fully, which is nice if you're getting a text message that is for your eyes only. The only con (if you would call it that) I would give for Face ID is if your phone is sitting on a flat surface (such as a desk) and you're sitting next to it, your face is not within range of the sensor, so you have to either move into view/lift the phone into view, or enter the backup passcode to unlock the device.
The speed is blazingly fast compared to my previous phones by far, while the battery life smashes any other iPhone I've had. I haven't charged it wirelessly so can't comment on that. I'll likely wait until Apple releases their own charging pad so I can use it with my Apple Watch. The sound output kinda blew me away too, as I've been finding myself turning it down, when I'm used to turning it up in the past. I don't care that they dropped the audio jack, as it's a wireless world we live in today. Thankfully for those of you who do require the audio jack, they include a Lightning to 3.5mm dongle adapter. As far as the camera, I was able to take amazing photos at a car show over the weekend, and the 4K video is stunningly crisp and smooth with it's dual stabilizing camera sensors. I'm in love with my phone again, and it's been awhile.
The price I feel is fair in today's market. Yes, I paid $150 extra for the 256GB, but feel it's still very much worth the up-charge when the base only comes with 64GB. Photos, songs and videos add up quick, not to mention apps. The payment plan with your carrier makes it a little easier to swallow, and isn't much more than what my iPhone 6 Plus cost monthly back when it was new.
I recommend Apple Care Protection, which can be purchased separately up to 60 days after original purchase date. Get a phone cover and screen protector on-the-double! Best Buy has many options available and I bought both a moderate, slimline cover and a durable, more bulky cover, as well as a glass screen protector. You'll want to protect this investment for sure.
In short, if you've been holding out for three (or more) years like me, then this is definitely the iPhone you want to get. You will not be disappointed!

So I said I would never pay a thousand dollars for a phone......Well, never say never. I read all there was to read about the iphone X and I knew going in it was very expensive. I had a 6 Plus and it was painfully slow (everyone now knows why) and I was just tired of messing with it. I was in Best Buy (where I get all my phones) and I decided to make the leap. Here are my initial thoughts.
Picture is supurb. The phone feels a lot smaller than my 6 Plus even though I know the screen is about the same size, it just feels smaller. Which, I guess is a good thing but I liked the size of my 6 Plus. But I put this phone in a bigger case to make up for that feel I missed with the plus size phone. I know, I'm an "older" user so having the convenience of slipping this phone in my pocket is not something I need like most on-the-go younger folks do, I just want to be able to see things on the screen and not feel like I don't have a handle on the phone. So I guess for me, size does matter.
The face recognition has worked basically flawlessly for me so far. Its a pretty cool concept that probably needs some tweeking because I do find myself having to do more to get into the phone than I did before. You have to raise the phone to your face so it can identify you then you have to swipe up from the bottom of the phone to get into it. I think if they had a setting that would allow you to open the phone by face ID and not have to swipe to get in, I'd like that a lot better. Having said that, I've never been one of those people that uses a security code to get into my phone and I always worried about losing my phone and someone being able to get right into it. I just hated having to punch in a code each time I wanted to use it. I gave the phone to my wife for her to look at and delighted in the fact that she was totally frustrated that she could not get into it. She kept pointing the phone at me to unlock it and I would look away and it would not unlock. I have to admit, I do like that security feature and not having to punch in a code to get into it is pretty cool to me.
I know several others have complained about the fact that now you have to swipe down from the top to get the control center and you have to do a swiping gesture to open up the multiple window function. I guess for me, its no big deal to have to swipe now rather than hit a button. If you grew up using virtually every variation of iphones going back to 2007, you are used to the button. But this one does not have a button and everyone that buys it should know that so why on earth would not having a button be an issue? I don't know, its just different and a lot of people don't like change. Me, I have no problem. I have heard that Apple might be bringing a virtual button back in the next update but all the functionality of the phone works fine for me. Its blazing fast, and that is what I am most happy about.
The camera, both video and pictures, works very well. I am a bit of a semi-professional photographer and I will never stop using my DSLR cameras but this phone takes pretty amazing pictures, I have to admit. In fact, I also do some video editing on my Mac and the video images rivaled my 4k Canon 6D. I was really impressed with the video. One more aspect that is greatly improved is the audio of this phone. And I don't necessarily mean quality audio, even though I do think its better, I mean the volume. I use my phone when I get ready in the morning to listen to the watch ESPN app and at times on my 6 plus, the audio was not loud enough to hear when I was running water or something like that. On this phone, I have zero issues hearing it. I'm very impressed with that aspect alone. Its amazing how much sound comes out of this phone.
In conclusion, for me, someone who lives in a Mac ecosphere, (Mac computer, iPad's, Apple watch, multiple iPhones and Mac book pro), this device is very familiar. If you've used iPhones for a while in the past, you will have no trouble adapting to the changes that to me, are intuitive because there is no home button. I had no trouble figuring out I needed to swipe instead of pushing a button. Some will find that frustrating, I did not.
Beautiful phone, beautiful picture. But, were the changes that created this phone worth the price tag? Not really but I don't ever remember buying any Apple product and thought, wow I got a good deal on this! I buy Apple products because I know once I own it, It will last, it will work, and it will be the best product out there.

This review is from Apple - iPhone X 256GB - Silver
My girlfriend and I began buying and upgraded to the latest iPhone since the very first version and the iPhone X is one the the biggest changes that I can remember. Much like going from the iPhone 3GS to the 4 was or the iPhone 5 to the 6.
The X model looses the Home Button and doesn’t have a the headphone jack like the 7’s. No big deal on the headphone jack. Sometimes I do prefer plugging a set in and not having to worry about Bluetooth.
The lack of a Home button does take some time getting use too. It is really different with the swipe gestures but after a day or so you get use to it. Basically learning a new way to switch and X out of apps. I like it now after using it.
The phone is fast, feels crisper than the 7. Safari is snappier and pretty much all the apps are.
The phones size is somewhat like the 7, feels thinner but is a tad larger.
If you can afford it, you will be happy. I played with the iPhone 8 and it feels quicker too.
The Face ID works really well. Being brothers that look a lot alike we try to trick it but it doesn’t work. This is the first of what will be new technologies for Apple like the Face ID, this was probably rushed and the next version will be more secure and work better. But it seems to work fine right now and does take the place of the finger ID pretty well.
Camera takes awesome pictures.
The 256g model can hold a lot of data which is nice and since your spending a grand you might as well spend the extra money and get the extra memory
Pleased so far and looks like a solid reliable phone. In all fairness though, I could get by just fine with the iPhone 7 that I have been using. The main thing I like is the larger screen which is gorgeous and the faster processor. I love the phone but honestly I could have waited a year for the next model. If you can afford it now you’ll enjoy it. The size is perfect for me and the screen is awesome.
Get a good case to protect it with which also hide the gorgeous design. I never really saw the iPhone 7 in black that I had because I always had it in a heavy duty case to protect it. It’s a shame to hide such great looking devices but you kinda have to so they don’t get dinged up.

Before I bought an iPhone X, I'd walk into a store that had one on display just to check it out. After using one for a few minutes, I was already trying to use iPhone X gestures on my 7+.
FaceID has some bugs. No security bugs from what I can tell. Just that it doesn't seem to be looking for my face sometimes when I try to unlock the phone. If it does, just turn the screen off and back on and that will tell it to look for your face again. Any time you set up or reset faceID, it will require 2 scans. I find it helps to looks straight ahead and hold the phone directly in front of you, and then for the second scan lower the phone and get a scan from that angle.
QI wireless charging is slower than using the iPhone charging block, and much slower than the iPad charging block. It's still nice to have for many situations. If your lightning port is wet, if the only usb cable you have at home is busted, or if you just want to save a literal 1 or 2 seconds plugging in the cable, you can just put your phone on the charging pad and its instantly getting power. To those of you complaining its not "truly wireless if the pad has to be plugged in", the thing that makes this charging method "wireless" is that there isn't a wire being plugged into the phone to charge.
-BY FAR the absolute worst part of this phone is the series of buttons you have to push to force a restart. On (to my knowledge) every iPhone up to the 6s and 6s+, power and home button until the screen turns off and an apple shows up on screen. With the 7/8 having software controlled home buttons you now need to hold down power and volume down.
-Now hold on to your hat, its about to get wild.
-To force restart and iPhone X you click and release volume up, then volume down, and then click and hold the right side button. Your screen will blur and you get the option to cancel or slide to power off. If you do not let go of the side button, your phone will restart. If you hold the side button and one of the volume buttons, you get the SOS option which can be customized to call automatically if you continue holding down those buttons, or just slide to call emergency. SOS can also be activated by pushing the side button 5 times.
aside from all that, its pretty much the next iPhone. new hardware upgrades, battery life depends on how you use it. Just like every phone ever made, it helps to restart it. Power off and back on every day or 2 days. Try to do it at least once per week. not force restart, just slide to power off.

The iPhone X is really the first big upgrade from Apple compared to a last year iPhone.
What I liked:
The display is really amazing going to an OLED display with a higher resolution is really an upgrade compared to my iPhone 7. Also the edge to edge display gives you a much bigger screen than the 7 or 8 (not plus phones). Also I liked how smooth face ID is and the features that it has like dimming my alarm when I look into my phone. In addition, the camera quality is top notch I have never seen amazing pictures from a smartphone like this phone. Finally, having fast charging capability is really awesome and helps a lot if you forgot to charge your phone and you want to get some charge before you go out.
What I disliked:
The aspect ratio of the screen won’t let you use the full screen size when you watch content unless you are ok with zooming to fit which crops the image. Also not having touch ID is really disappointing because it is still faster than face ID and it is more convenient. Finally, I really hated that apple didn’t include a fast charging power brick with the phone (you have to buy the 29w power adapter and a usb c to lighting cable to get fast charging).

It's been about seven months since I bought the iPhone X, and since then I've had a lot of time to get to use it on a regular basis. The short answer is, it's a great iPhone. It's fast, fluid, and I really appreciate using gesture controls to navigate between windows as opposed to pressing the home button. It feels much more....elegant....than a dedicated button. The lack of Touch ID isn't sorely missed, but it is noticeably slower to authenticate yourself into not only the phone but also the many many apps that now incorporate some kind of biometric password into their logins. It adds small seconds to your day that for most people won't be dealbreakers but are definitely noticed.
The biggest issue I felt with the iPhone X was that the screen technology used to create the rounded corners, essentially a curved OLED, is breathtaking in its ingenuity but doesn't wholly translate to a game-changing experience. The truth is, the iPhone doesn't really have the best screen-to-body ratio of many current flagships - and what's more, what bezel it does have is almost immediately obviated by the fact that everyone will need to slap a case on it in order to keep its completely glass body safe, as opposed to other phones that use titanium, plastic or ceramic to bolster their tiny tiny bezels. Once you have a case on it, you're essentially looking at an iPhone with a slightly larger body, but the sensation of using something brand-new is significantly diminished.
Don't get me wrong - the iPhone X is a great phone, and if you are already deep in the Apple ecosystem and want its latest and greatest, this is definitely it. However, I don't think that stretching your budget to buy this when you could purchase an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus for much cheaper which offers an almost identical experience (especially when cases get involved) and equally good cameras should be a gut-wrenching decision. It's a great phone, with a great screen, and a great camera. And for me, it was absolutely worth the $1000. But that won't hold true for everyone.

An amazing phone! And a couple of minor annoyances
I was able to purchase the iPhone X a couple weeks after the release date and was really amazed that Best Buy was able to get it in stock so quickly considering supplies were strained. Since then, I have been extremely impressed with the phone. The display is unbelievable, with far superior clarity and color accuracy compared to my previous iPhone 6s. I purchased the phone primarily for the dual lens camera, which I have found to take exceptional photos, especially in low light. As a photo enthusiast, I have been very impressed with the capabilities of the camera. The portrait mode is a little gimmicky, although the bokeh in this mode is quite surprisingly good. The other portrait mode settings are not as useful to me and could use some improvement. The screen size is very good and easy on the eyes. I rather like the fact that the overall size of the phone is barely larger than my old iPhone 6s and is easy on the hand. Scrolling is smooth as silk and the new gestures, while requiring a little adjustment, are ultimately much more intuitive over time. There are a couple of annoyances that warrant mention here. First, while face recognition is superb, it can only work in portrait mode. It does not work in landscape. This is annoying if the phone goes off while working in landscape mode. I have to flip the phone to vertical to unlock with face recognition. The other annoyance is also related to face recognition. If the phone is lying flat on a table and I want to look at notification or text, it will not unlock with face recognition unless you lean over the phone considerably, or you pick the phone up so that it will recognize your face. Regardless, it is a top-notch phone with little in the way of drawbacks. Hopefully, some of these considerations will be addressed in newer versions of the phone or in newer software updates.

First off I'll say I'm not one sided just for apple. There are android products that are equal to the iphone. I've tried both at different times and depending on what you use your phone for one can be better than the other. If you just use the a phone for surfing web, texting, watching videos and possibly a phone call (nah, who does that) then just about any smart phone will do. I do prefer the overall echo system apple provides and prefer the iphone because of it. Now that being said, I did have my doubts about face recognition but it seems to work well. I have had it not work on occasion and i just punched in my security code to unlock the phone. It does work most of the time and its pretty quick. The times it has not worked was when I caused a large distortion of my face compared to what my face looked like when i scanned it originally. An example of this was the phone started to scan my face and at about the same time I had to yawn, my yawning face didn't let the phone unlock via the facial recognition.
Overall the phone is an awesome upgrade from my 3yr old 6 plus. The front and back cameras both take awesome pictures. I would recommend this phone. The down side, the price is crazy expensive. I purchase my phone out right which really hurts the wallet, its also why my last phone was 3yrs old. I don't upgrade every year.

Apple iPhone X review: The future of Apple smartphones
If you're an Apple power user looking to get something different from the rest of your iPhone-using family, this is the big change you've been waitingFull Review
Best answer: Close to $240 (maybe just a bit less) for down payment. At the time I purchased mine it was a $150 down payment and roughly $80 for tax. After that you’ll have a $30 activation fee (one time) and then you’re looking at maybe $67-$69 per month for 24 months for service and device. All rough figures.
Best answer: Knowing that Apple normally doesnt give out huge price drops during the holidays, I figure you would have to wait till the holidays come by. Your best bet is to look into previous years Holiday prices on all of their devices.
Best answer: If you are doing device payments the price will be what the carrier has it as, despite what B.B. shows it as. If you paid full retail upfront you should be able to price match once you get it and can show the qualifying competitor price. That has been the case in the past as I did it with my 6 plus and 7 plus using Apple price as the competitor
