Q: It looks like the mount system is a GoPro Style. Will it work with GoPro mounts?
A: Yes. I use the VIRB (in the Garmin housing) and mount it on my helmet, suction cup & extension GoPro pole ... all past Hero mounts I had handy. So you can use past GoPro mounting systems. But not the actual camera housing. Enjoy!
A: Unsure what you meant by "Will this item last for a while?" The Virb Ultra 30 is more a sports cam not a dash cam. It can be used as one and works great but you will need to find a external source if you are taking long trips as the batter life is about 2 hours and the video card will also be limited. If you are going to use it for off road or racing it should work wonderful for you with the g-matrix that it adds to the footage.
Q: Does it have a standard or wide angle lens?
A: The lens is wide angle. Depending on your video resolution setting, it allows for 1.5x or 2x times zoom. This is allowed in 1080p as an example, but not in 4k. I don't believe this feature is available in any photo mode. I shoot 4k,so I don't zoom. Good luck - James
A: Yes, this model includes image stabilization to reduce shaky video.
Q: Can it cover a baseball field from 1st base to 3rd?
A: It's does have a wide-angle view. I believe it will show you the entire field if behind home plate. The horizontal field of view is 123° in 4:3 and 118° in 16:9. That leaves approximately 30° on either side of center. Since it is 45° to 1st and 3rd base if eyes are centered on the pitchers mound (the angle at home plate created by the lines intersecting 1st & 3rd is 90°) you have 14-17° of field of view on either side if the camera is looking directly at the pitchers mound.
