Unsure what you meant by "Will this item last for a while?" The Virb Ultra 30 is more a sports cam not a dash cam. It can be used as one and works great but you will need to find a external source if you are taking long trips as the batter life is about 2 hours and the video card will also be limited. If you are going to use it for off road or racing it should work wonderful for you with the g-matrix that it adds to the footage.
