Hotshot Racing - Nintendo Switch

I discovered Hotshot Racing through Xbox GamePass and it's a great game (easily 4-5 stars for the Sega Virtua vibes the game has in spades). So I thought it would be great to have a physical copy for my Switch. I'm not sure who opened the box that the game shipped in, but they sliced the spine of the game case right down the middle, well that sucks. Figured I'll just order another and return the original, the second game must have come out of the same box b/c it's also sliced right down the middle. I exchange the second copy for a third one shipped to my house thinking third time would be the charm, nope. This copy is also sliced right across the spine. It'll be going back as well and I'll see if I can finally find one that isn't sliced. I still recommend checking the game out, but maybe you should find one in person if you can.

The Positives: + The cool style that harkens back to early 3D racing games of the mid-late 1990's + Tight controls + Good collection of cars to drive with 4 different play styles + Solid selection of game modes to choose from + Good multiplayer support, featuring up to 4-player local split-screen that can also be used online + Actually is complete on cart, despite the erroneous boxart + All for a very reasonable price! The Drawbacks: - While it mostly holds steady at 60 FPS in single player, frame-rate drops do happen (some game modes more so than others) - If you don't like having the AI breathe down your neck the entire race, you're going to get annoyed playing this due to the powerful slipstream mechanic that keeps cars close - The track design, while generally good, could stand to perhaps have been a bit more adventurous - The soundtrack isn't bad by any means, but not as memorable as it could have been Overview: Hotshot Racing is a really fun time and one of the better arcade-style racing games available for the Switch! The game's visuals are stylish, clean, and easy to parse. There's a good amount of cars, tracks, modes, and customization. Despite an error on the boxart (there's a download note that's not shown here on the website), it's actually all on the game card! It's also priced nicely, too! There are some aspects of the game that may grate on your nerves - for one, the races are always close (I could the amount of blowout race wins I had on one hand despite playing hundreds of races), so any mistakes late in the race will cost you dearly. The frame-rate is a little inconsistent in single-player (though it at least runs at 60 FPS and usually holds it), but it's nothing game-breaking (it runs at 30 FPS in split-screen, like the 3-4 player mode in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe). These are mostly nitpicks, though, as I'm really fond of this game and don't regret buying it for a moment!

Throw back to old racing games such as Daytona USA. Game starts off easy to get you use to everything, but then gets challenging later on. Recommend to anyone that enjoys arcade racers

Very similar to outrun and it has multiple player local or online. Very well done racing game. Now if they would just do a F-Zero

This is a great racing game for the Switch. It reminds me of Automodellista for the Game Cube back in time.

Great classic style racing 3D game ,i loved the graphic style.

A Sega Saturn/Dreamcast throw back on modern consoles.

I play this game for hours is a really fun game to play
