Perfect replacement for three switches
||Posted .As my home network evolved so did the amount of ethernet ports. As I upgraded my network I needed a single switch to accommodate my needs and this was the perfect fit. Solid construction with the right amount of weight to ground it; a welcomed change as my other switches were plastic and often fell from the ethernet connections. The status light indicators are easy to see and determine which connections are running properly and the top of the box allowed me to attach labels for each ethernet connection, Highly recommend this switch for those who need more ethernet connections and who plan on needing more in the future.

Better than I thought
||Posted .Bought this switch to replace my 5 port Linksys switch so I could network some IP security cameras, computers, Roku, Chromecast, etc via ethernet cable. Works very well and distributes my high speed internet to all systems without any problems. Nice and compact and feels sturdy.

Plug & Play Easy
||Posted .Installed in my newly constructed home. Home came with a "structured wiring" package, that I expanded to run LAN connections throughout home, to plug all Smart TV's, Xbox's and Apple Airport Extremes to each floor to extend and give me the fastest network (vs. all wireless). This Switch has no external cooling needed, so Installed in the structured wiring box. I opted for this Switch vs. one installed with house because one that came with house was not Gigabit rated nor had enough ports. I'm no network specialist, but system appears to be runing well, fast, and stark improvement over previous home's wireless only system.

Gigabit switch needed
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Since my ISP increased my speed from 75 to 150 mbps, I needed to get a new switch. This one was perfect, it was unmanaged and simple plug and play. Getting speeds of 170mpbs down now. Small footprint too

Q: QuestionI have a Netgear Nighthawk X6 AC3200 with 1gig internet. The fastest speed I get through any band is around 250m. Can I place this upstream of the Nighthawk and use it to supply my main devices with 1gig, then let the router handle the wireless needs?
Asked by Ryan.
- A:Answer Hi Ryan, You would typically want to connect your internet to the router then the router to the switch. so in this case the switch would be down stream. You will be able to maintain 1 gig wired connection in this fashion. I hop that helps... here is a visual INTENET -----> MODEM ---- >ROUTER ----> SWITCH do it in this order if you can.

Q: QuestionI have 1G internet. I have this switch plugged in from the modem and the switch appears to receive 1000mbs. However the 4 ports coming out of the switch to my smart tv and laptop only show 100mbs coming out. Shouldn't I get 1000mbs out from each port?
Asked by Bob123.
- A:Answer It will only transfer at the speed of the device. If the NIC (Network Interface Card) in the device is only 10/100 then the switch will only transfer up to 100. Thus why the light is yellow. Most TV's (at least for now), surveillance cameras, etc. will only transfer at a maximum of 100 since that is all that is needed so the devices are built as such. If it is a newer laptop, then that should be transferring at 1000 if it is plugged into the actual ethernet port and not an external adapter via USB. Make sure your ethernet cables are good as well. All 8 pins are required for 1000Mbs speeds. Only 4 are required for 10/100. This is why POE cameras only run at 100Mbs speeds. 4 for the network connection and 2 for power. The other 2 are not being used.

Q: QuestionI am going to be using to hook up 10 registers with cat5 cable for a business plus a juke box will this work? The internet speed for this business already has 100 mbps working right now from spectrum
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The short answer is yes, unless your registers are on separate vlans than your juke box. If credit cards go through the registers there are strict rules on separating public access and credit card traffic. This is an unmanaged switch so it is plug and play, nothing to setup.

Q: Questionhow do I get my home network to run a 2.5gbps? do i need to hook my main 2.5gbps port DIRECTLY to the computer through the 2.5gbps port then another one for the 1gbps port? I have the Asus crosshair VIII hero(non-wifi as it saved 400!) help?!
Asked by PyroFireZeroX.
- A:Answer Think of it like a water hose with sprinklers. Hook your garden hose to the outdoor spigot the put a "Y" on the end of your hose and run two hoses from the "Y" and put a sprinkler at the end of each of those two hoses. How far does each sprinkler spray water? Now disconnect one sprinkler and put on a "Y" where the sprinkler was and hook up two more hoses. Now how far does the water spray? You only have so much water and the more sprinklers you add the less spray you get from each. Bandwidth is similar. The switch is like a "Y" but with a lot more than two new directions. Most home internet providers give you enough band width to run more than one device however the more devices you run at the same time the less water comes out of each sprinkler. YES, you can hook your device to this switch and get plenty of band width...if you are not running a bunch of other devices at the same time.

Q: QuestionIs this a router?
Asked by ragpicker.
- A:Answer No, this is not a router. This would typically plug into your router from one of the (typically) 4 ports to one of the ports on the switch. A switch basically gives you more ports, for when you use all 4 on your router and need more :) If your looking for a router, check out the Linksys WRT3200ACM.
