“Wireless speakers? The Sony surround sound system I currently have (BDV-e780W) has a remote Wi-Fi box that makes running wires from the unit to the back of the room unnecessary. When I bought it years ago it was the top-of-the-line. However now it freezes up a lot and has to be unplugged to reset. My question is: is this particular unit the same? Meaning does it have wireless speakers? Or at least wireless rear speakers so you don't have to run wires all the way through your living room to the rear of the house? Also if not can I use the wireless receiver box that I already have with this one In order to make the running of wires unnecessary? Also can I add speakers to it since I already have the above-mentioned model?”

Hello Benjamin! The model BDVN5200W doesn't have the capabilities of using a wireless transceiver card to be able to send the signal to a receiver device such as the one used for the BDV-E780W to make the rear speakers wireless from the main unit. As well, this unit will not allow you to set additional speakers unless they are connected to a receiver or amplifier through HDMI since the signal from this unit will go through the receiver/amplifier and then from that unit it will be sent to the television via HDMI as well, allowing you to connect the speakers from the BDV-E780W to it. In other words, it will be similar to a chain: unit 1 (BDVN5200W): output signal goes to unit 2 : input (receiver/ amplifier) then it is sent to unit 3: (television).~Jeannette
