• No. This device uses your wi-fi adapter on your phone/device to connect. It just does so directly instead of over a wireless network. It basically uses your wi-fi adapter in a manner similar to how bluetooth works (directly). The advantage is that you don't need a wi-fi network to connect to this like you would if you were using a Chromecast. However, it's worth noting that a Roku can do what this device does - as well as all the nice features that a Roku gives.
