Yes. Some light require a hub to do so. I recommend wemo and tp link switches that you plug you lamps into. OR Ikea lightbulbs with their hub because those bulbs are long lasting, reasonably priced, and work with apple homekit as well

yes it does i have it attached to my living room lamps and never have to get up to turn them on..alexa turn on lights..lol
