Plug and play for regular service. The plus services are 4.99 a month. With the upgrade you can do more and listen to anything at any time.

If you do not subscribe to any services, you will hear ads and not be able to play specific songs. Alexa can play genres and artists playlists but without a linked subscription your choices are more limited. You can link the free versions of Spotify or Amazon Music for a more personalized music mix. Hope that helps!
