• Not really it's pumps out the music through speakers from a app you downloaded it has a headphone jack that you can connect through auxiliary

• You don't need to "hook" it up. You can either use apps for android or iPhone or use a web browser on any desktop operating system.

• No, computers - mac or windows pc don't connect to the Echo devices, they run thru your wi-fi network only and are controlled by an app on your smart phone or tablet.
