Yes , As long as you have internet and Wi-Fi Its a self supported device. Having Amazon would allow more advanced features, but you don't need it at all.

You need WiFi the Echo’s and dot is an Amazon product to register it ... an amazon account is free you don’t need to order amazon prime to activate the dot or echo’s ... hope this helps... tony
