When I say alexa stop is the device off null

Alexa/Echo does not have an on/off feature. If you need it "off", you will need to unplug it. When you tell it to stop, it goes back into idle/monitor mode listening for its keyword "Alexa" (unless you changed the default word) to wake the device back up. It is not actively running unless you see the blue lights on the Echo light up.

It will stop playing what it was currently playing when you say stop, but the device will never power off unless you unplug it. It is always on and listening for the key word " Alexa"

If playing music and you tell Alexa to stop the Echo Dot will stop the song but will stay on and continue to listen for your next command.
