I believe Alexa will have difficulty with a slower speaking person and/or very young child. She almost requires the perfect thought to be prepared and blurted out rapidly in order for her to understand. Although, sometimes, she is able to decipher my incoherent expressions. Objectively, I would think that Alexa would be somewhat difficult for someone like you to grow accustomed to and vice versa. But, personally, I am not aware of any slow-speach recognition modes; so I could be wrong.

Alexa on Echo Dot is very good at picking up what is not pronounced exact. The machine amazes me!

This may be difficult because sometimes I find it does not respond as well to my child, but you can also type commands on the Alexa app
