At first, I was reluctant to talk to a hockey puck. Okay so I am old fashioned. I use smart sockets in some areas in my home. I have them connected to my phone. But I found out you could program the Echo Dot to them. I have gotten used to talking to it. I now command it to turn on and turn off certain things around my home. You can command it to guard your home. You can ask where your orders are. If you say good morning it will give you information as to what happened on that date years ago. You can joke with it too. The things you can do with it are endless.
I purchased the Ring Doorbell at Best Buy and the Echo Dot was included with the purchase. Thanks Best Buy! I love my Echo Dot! All you need to do is plug it in, get the app on your phone and follow the prompts.
I ask Alexa silly questions, I ask her to play music, tell me jokes, set up my alarm, set up reminders, I ask for the weather, the time, etc.
This was a gift for my granddaughter’s friend. He has MS and is confined in a wheelchair. He could use his arms a couple year’s ago, but only his fingers now. Echo has changed his life. He can talk on the phone and reach his family and friends. It was the best gift EVER.
I really like this speaker it can do a lot of things like in the morning i have an alarm to go to work when i turn off the alarm i set it up to tell me how is the traffic to work and tell me weather and if i want i could set it up to tell me also news, radio and more when i arrive From work i tell it to play music the sound is really good when im going to sleep i tell it to open sleep sounds or i say good night and it gives me a list of sounds it can make that will help me go to sleep i leave the sound the entire night it helps me go to sleep, I don’t have anything smart yet like light bulbs but if i did I would be able to do a lot more with this
I LOVE THIS DEVICE ! This was my third Echo device (my second 3rd generation Echo) I received this Echo Dot (3rd Gen) as a free gift when I ordered my son's Fire TV and passed it on to him as well. My family enjoys them. We use it to play music, ask questions about the weather and local/national events, timers/alarms, making calls and sending messages, and controlling other devices, he has even added smart lighting and smart plugs to his room. Couldn't be happier!
Echo dot from Alexa always are the best, they understand you easily, amazing style, and even you can buy an alexa holder to keep your product without wires and directly on the outlet. I will always recommend Alexa and now you have the option to put it in English or Spanish. I have like 5 alexas at my house and honestly all of them grreat.

I have this dot in my garage for when my hands are full or super dirty and I need lights on, or the worst song ever is playing and an emergency song skip is required.
I have it plugged into an old ups
These are cool. I get a kick out of playing music in the kitchen when my hands are messy. I ha e it connected to my phone to play SiriusXM and Apple. Omg I love this thing! I got a holder from Amazon to hang it off of the outlet. It makes the speaker sound so

A:AnswerYes you can set up the Echo on your acct/smartphone BUT if you call her using another Echo on your account in your house let's say, she will hear the Echo 'ringing' and will need to say, "Alexa, answer the call' for her Echo to pick up and start the speaker phone call from you. My 80+ year old mom can do this. Suggest you write the answer call phrase on an index card and leave it with her if needed, plus good to 'demo' the process with her on a landline and you on your phone, so you & she can see how it words and sounds.
A:AnswerFirst download the Alexa app on your device, then plug in your echo dot , the echo dot light will turn light red/orange while pairing with your phone then wait for the light to turn blue and Alexa will say hello , then follow the instructions on the Alexa app. On the app just add the device to your list and scan the unique scan code that’s include inside the echo dot box. After set up just ask Alexa anything.
A:AnswerYes. I setup my first 2 from my laptop. Now I have a Chromebook and setup the last one I purchased from it. I don't have the app on my phone because I use the phone primarily for work and want to keep my contacts private.
PS - use all 3, none of them went bad.
A:AnswerYes. We have custom lists (which end up being stored in your amazon account) for items we need. “Alexa, add paper towels to Costco” and she will add that into into the list named Costco.
One nice benefit is that you can stream multiple items in a single sentence to Alexa and they will all be added individually.
To access the lists, you would use the Alexa app on your phone and pull them up when at the store.
