Yes. Tell Alexa to drop in on the other dot and you can communicate with each other. Also you can make an announcement and it broadcasts to the echo dot.

Yes it is called the"drop in" feature. The Alexa app shows you the voice prompt on how to use the feature

Yes. Even better (for me), they can be linked so that they will play the same music, radio, etc throughout your home. Note - and I learned this the hard way - non-Amazon devices that have Alexa built in (e.g., some alarm clocks, Bose stuff...I think, some others) can not be linked with the pure Alexa devices (i.e., Echo)...I suspect that may be true for the intercom as well. They work fine as stand-alone devices but don't "see" the other devices in your home and they don't "see" it.

I have several of these devices in the bedrooms and it's a great way to communicate thru out the house. Just use the phrase "Alexa, drop in (person's name or room name)" and you can open up a two way communication.
