Hi DJJB, to get local weather, you only need to open your Amazon Alexa app, then change the physical location of the Dot to Canadian address even though the Dot is registered under a US account.

It uses it's current location. So I believe it doesn't matter if you are in Canada.

The 3rd generation Echo Dot will give you information worldwide. It can be weather, time, or other questions. Alexa can also speak several languages other than English. Just ask for the language you prefer. She does not speak every language, but she speaks both Canadian French and Canadian English, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese. I hope this helps.
