I did not purchase one for my latest Kindle Fire, at this price I decided to take my chances. My son has had a Kindle fire for over a year, I did purchase the protection plan and it paid off. The battery was not holding a charge for more than an hour and we returned it to Best Buy, it was exchanged for a new Kindle Fire.

its not necessary, but if you drop it or break it they replace it, its nice to have insurance

I would definitely buy the protection plan. My sister-in-law's Kindle and her dad's Kindle only lasted 1-2 years.

I had a Fire and 2 months later is just quit working. Did not buy coverage but luckily my credit card covered me and paid for a new (different) device.

It depends on what the warranty covers and how much a year, usally more time cheaper it gets but if it's a expensive item u use everyday then I would get it just in case
