Can you download android apps? I am looking for a media player that will also let me play android apps over the tv.

Yes, you can download and install android games and other applications. Do note that not all applications are compatible.

The Fire TV Stick does play some Android apps if you get them via the Amazon Appstore. For example, I've been getting free apps of the day for a while, and a bunch of those games are playable on the stick - Quell and Sonic the Hedgehog spring immediately to mind.

Yes but only the one on the AppStore, their are some forums online that can't help you sideload them. But Im not into android modding so I can't offer any suggestions on the matter.

Depends on the app, Jim. I sideloaded some apps to see if they'd work. They installed and I was able to launch them but that was as far as I could get. Apps have to be authored to work with it. There are apps that will work, and the stick comes with links to download them from the stick. It's a new device so it will take some time for more apps to be available for it.

Only the ones that are available through amazon app store and not all of them. Some of them are couple of versions behind, so beware.
