Effectively the answer is Yes you need Internet access. Technically you can still "use" the installed apps that don't require internet access (which is not much). That said, Amazon Fire TV Stick needs a stable internet connection to work correctly and fully. All Amazon Prime movies, TV shows, and music are streamed directly from the internet. Without a connection you wont be able to do much

Yes, its literally an network based device. Useless without good web service..
