You need cable or an appropriate app, I use YOUTUBE TV. All this does is give you access to all of your apps with a NON smart TV. Caution - only the latest fire stick, Gen 2 facilitates Youtube TV - I had the older one and it wouldn't work. But for 40 bucks - this is a great transformation of an older TV. I don't think it will work with an old tube tV, you must have an HDMI connection
