Now if you are using it to watch Hulu or Netflix or some of the other things on it, then yes you have to pay for those things. If already have cable, you can get most channels streaming apps without an issue and without having to pay. You just have to log in with your username and password for your cable provider.

Please try again later.Besides the Fire Stick, you must have: - a working TV to plug it into - a working WiFi connection, with high enough speed to stream movies/music - an account that gives you access to the movies, music, etc. that you want to stream - e.g. Netflix subscription, Amazon Prime Video account, etc. There's also plenty of free media that you can stream through the Fire Stick, but if you want access to "premium" content you do still have to pay for it.
