“My old dashcam would start recording as soon you got in the car and a for few seconds after you exit. This camera starts a few seconds after the car is started and stops immediately when the engine is off, same power outlet. Is there a way to change this?”

Set it up to the least sensitive setting

Please try again later.If you want the camera to continue recording while the vehicle is off, then you have to either hard wire it or have a power outlet that has continuous power (which most do not now days). If you have parking mode on, it should record a bit when you get into the vehicle because the car door opens (on high setting), and then once the car is on, record like normal. So it sounds like parking mode might be set too low or not on at all. I would recommend keeping parking mode on and setting it to high. Check your settings on the app.
