Yes, this antenna can be installed in the basement however there will be signal loss. There are no extra requirements.

I would not expect consistent reception of many channels in a basement. Where you mount the antenna and where it works best depends on your location. Once you find a place on the home where the antenna works well, you would run a coax cable from the antenna to a splitter or distribution amplifier and then you would run a coax cable from the splitter or distribution amplifier to each TV you want to use.
