Thank you for reaching out.  Yes, the BN450M well beep while running on battery power and will also beep when it reaches a low battery condition.  It is possible to silence the on battery alarm, but not the low battery alarm.

The idea is to let you know that power is off. That's what the beeping sound does. It also beeps when there is no more battery life. You wouldn't want it to not beep.
