Yes. It will provide power when the main power goes out giving you an opportunity to shut down your computer, or in your case, power the computer until the secondary power source turns on. That's the main purpose for these small UPCs.

It really depends on the output power of the generator. If it output cleaner power than you will likely be fine. You may need adjust the sensitivity to a lower setting if the unit stays on battery while the generator kicks on. The manual would give you the instructions on how to make the adjustments.
