Thank you for your inquiry. The ideal UPS you choose will be based on the total wattage consumption of every device you plan on plugging into the unit. I suggest calculating the wattage draw of your computer along with any other electronics. Once you have that number and desired runtime in mind you will be able to choose the appropriate unit. The XS 1500 is rated for a max of 865W and we do not suggest putting more than 80% of the total load (692W in this case) so that you are not in danger of overloading the UPS.

This one should have more than enough capacity. Add up the amp rating for each device and multiply it times 120 Volts to determine the load. Or if you have the wattage simply add that up. A watt - 1 Amp x 1 Volt.

Likewise, lots of pics and music. I have used a Drobo 5N for 3 years with no problems. Rock solid, and you can add drives as space requires. Start with 3 drives, as it's software will rebuild all data if one drive goes down. Max is 5 drives in one unit.

Seagate has good premium backup software, while WD is good as well,
You will have look in the the size of the network ready hard drive and software. The major issue for me is the software is user friendly or not.

Nick, the APC unit is not a generator. It is only a power BUFFER that provides a few minutes of power in the event your utility power goes out. it is meant to allow you to properly SHUT DOWN your computer ONLY.

I would use a Western Digital My Cloud backup. Plug it into your router and your backup will run whenever you connect to your WiFi. You can even set it so you can connect remotely to retrieve your files.

Backups are for data, this product ensures that only clean power gets to the unit....

As for this unit to power your unit, its overkill, you could get a much smaller unit...

As for DATA backups, unless you are a real IT person, use Apple's iCloud, which is cheap and easy
