As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, the iPad Air 5th generation does not support both generations of the Apple Pencil simultaneously. It is compatible with the second-generation Apple Pencil, which attaches magnetically to the side of the iPad for charging and easy storage. This is the same Apple Pencil that is compatible with the iPad Pro models released around that time. The first-generation Apple Pencil is not officially supported with the iPad Air 5th generation. However, Apple's product offerings and compatibility may change over time, so it's a good idea to check the official Apple website or contact Apple directly for the most up-to-date information on accessory compatibility with your specific iPad model, as new software updates and accessories may have been released after my last knowledge update in September 2021.
