No, I've never gotten virus protection for any of my apple products and I've never had a problem. If you want virus protection for peace of mind you can, but I personally don't think it's necessary.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I strongly recommend getting virus protection for any computer. Far too many people trust in the "Apple computers don't get viruses" myth, and more than a few of them pay the price for that. The only reason there are fewer viruses that affect Apple computers is that Apple has a much smaller share of the market. There are still plenty of viruses out there that can infect Macs. A reputable virus protection program - even a free one such as Avast - is worth the minimal time and effort it takes to install and use. I've used a Macbook Pro for four years and have had dozens of viruses blocked by my virus protection software. I am an IT professional and wouldn't dream of connecting any unprotected computer to the internet. TL;DR version: No computer needs virus protection software until they suddenly do. It's far better to be safe than sorry.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would strongly urge you to invest in something like Malwarebytes for your Mac. Once your OS is no longer supported or upgrade-able through Apple updates you will be at risk of infection. I had a 2007-era iMac that I was still using in 2018 that was getting infected easily because the OS was stuck at the previous year's version and could go no further with Apple security updates. I think I pay $39 annually for coverage on one product (my newer iMac Mini) and $10 per each extra device. You won't be sorry.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It’s like your iPhone system only bigger hardware, and getting an anti vitus is an added protection layer for youself, but still optional.
