“Are these air pods waterproof? Thinking of getting for my son for Christmas. He says they are. He wants to use while taking a shower. I don’t think that’s what it means by waterproof”

No way. Read the Apple web site’s fine print: “ AirPods Pro are sweat and water resistant for non-water sports and exercise. AirPods Pro were tested under controlled laboratory conditions, and have a rating of IPX4 under IEC standard 60529. Sweat and water resistance are not permanent conditions and resistance might decrease as a result of normal wear. ” The soap & shampoo are even worse than water. Apple says one may wear a series 2+ Watch In a pool or ocean, but says to avoid getting soap/shampoo on it. Finally how is he going to wash the wax out of his ears if they’re plugged? Gross!
