• Yes! Used with (up to) 13 Apple iDevices, at least. Background syncing allow use of iMacs, MacBooks, iPads, and iPhones, without interference, or performance interruption. Used in office, and home. Also, with app you need to download and install, backs up PC laptop.

• Direct backup is for computer only. However, if you backup your iPad or iPhone to iTunes on your computer, it keeps the different backups in the iTunes files.

• I have only been able to back up my MacBook and iMac directly to the Time Capsule. I don't believe you can back up iPads or iPhones directly so I back my iPhone and iPad to my iMac which backs up to the Time Capsule.
