A:AnswerIn pretty much every device (not just Macs), flash storage is better than a hard drive. Flash is much, much faster (the key benefit), it's smaller and lighter (allows the device to be thinner and lighter), uses much less power (increases battery life), and it has no moving parts like a hard drive does so it's much more durable and not as prone to failure if the machine is dropped or anything.
The only real downsides to flash storage compared to a hard drive are lower capacity and higher price. The price you can't really do much about (but it gets cheaper every year), and most users don't have high storage needs these days anyway. Plus, there's always cloud storage, as well as external storage (SD cards, USB drives, etc.), so it's easy to work around this.
I highly recommend using flash storage these days. Hard drives are only ideal if you really need a ton of storage without an external device or a cloud service.
A:AnswerI believe I purchase mine with 128 gb. I am not aware of student discounts. I would check with either Apple or Best Buy. They use to offer a military discount and teacher's discount. Also, if you are patient, they do offer a great sale through Best Buy. I purchased my computer, brand new, for $749. While my husband got his one year ago for $799.
A:AnswerYou have to sign up for their student discount program on the website and once they verify your email you’ll be sent student discount coupons in your email shortly after.
A:AnswerWe used the $200 off list price at the holiday season. They usually don't offer $200 outside of Christmas season. Other times it's only $150 off.
