I also live in a rural area with 12/3 internet. It will work for Netflix or other lower res content. It does NOT help with buffering beyond what any other less costly unit like Roku can do for you. For movies, I rent them on my iPhone and download them to the phone overnight for viewing later. You can easily stream from the phone to the Apple TV.
