I believe you can only customize the band colors on the Apple site.

No. You place the order for the Nike watch as is. If Bestbuy has the band on their website, you can order the band that you want separately. It’s a little more money, but you have the option of wearing the black band or the one of your choosing. If you have a Bestbuy credit card, you can take advantage of the finance offer!

If that is one of the options of sale then yes they can. But they can not special order a watch with a certain band. If you wanted to get a space gray aluminum watch and it couldn’t come with the band you wanted you would have to order the band and have two. I believe Apple might do trades on bands but I am not certain when I use to work for Best Buy the Apple representative at my store said they were able to do that, but that was over 2 years ago.
