Do u need cellular service for the ekg monitoring?? null

No; I have EKG monitoring on the standard 4 series watch (with GPS).

I have not looked into this yet, but one day a couple weeks ago I was just playing & stumbled upon the EKG feature. Let me just say I was very impressed, it was so cool . But at that time I didn’t have much time to really explore it. But I will ! Looking at my answer I realize I didn’t really answer your question. I haven’t looked into it but I would say yes you probably need cellular service.

No you do not. I have the gps model (no cellular) and I have to problem using the ekg option. It does require having the health app on your Apple device.
