• Assuming they use the airpods with an apple device, the serial number of the apple care service and device are all linked to their Apple ID. They can then submit a service request through apples appointment system.

• The answer is no Apple care has a serial number on the product when you buy AppleCare so if you go to a Best Buy or Apple Store, they will know you have AppleCare based on the serial number of the product and it is transferable because it goes by serial number, not by purchaser identity.

• The Apple care should be attached to the product not the account. I know I had to replace one AirPod and they hooked it up but did not ask us anything.
