• Yes, it begins recording video when the motion detection threshold is exceeded.

• I have the wired one and it can be triggered by motion and/or the button. I can’t imagine this wire free one won’t function the same. I like that it’s WiFi so it will work even if far from the Arlo base (which you need for most of their cameras.)
