IPS screens are both Matt and glossy and that has nothing to do with it. I am a professional photographer and I can’t understand why any photographer or film maker, etc. would ever want a gloss screen. There’s a solution - you can buy a Matte screen protector from 3M. Other than the gloss screen and the soldered RAM it’s an excellent laptop. It handles all my photography applications very well. If you spend more ASUS will sell you pretty much the same laptop with upgradable RAM and a matte screen - but they want a lot more which is a bit of a rip off Like I say a Matt screen filter with solve the problem.

Because IPS are touch screen, they are glossy for purposes of touch screen and are more geared for/or towards multimedia professionals or enthusiast who desire a more crisp and vivid image or video quality. Your best option is to return it and look for a non-convertible laptops as they generally come with the "matte" screen you may be seeking. I hope this is helpful.
