Why is the ROG Strix so much more expensive than the FE and the other AIB cards? null

ASUS has had a long history of producing more reliable aftermarket GPUs than competitors. Their 2080 Ti for instance had more consistent thermals and stable overclocking when compared to its competition. That's why the ASUS Strix 2080 Ti is considered the best on the market currently. You are paying a higher price for that level of quality and consistency.

The real answer has to do with what's called "binning." Nvidia makes a bunch of wafers and tests them, placing them in bins ranked by performance. Higher ranked means it maintains stability at higher voltages. The bins are then sold to 3rd party manufacturers (after Nvidia keeps most of the best ones for their own cards) and ASUS probably reserved some really good bins for their ROG STRIX line of higher end units. Plus its got all the fancy RGB!

You're paying for the thermal ability of the card, higher default overclock setting, and if you look carefully you'll notice this card has three Display Port and two HDMI, which is one more port than all of the other cards currently available through Best Buy. The most any of the other cards carry is four total connections.

Typically ROG Strix cards are a premium product. I.e. RGB, cool design, over clocked, and most importantly a better cooling system to handle the tweaks. That’s why this card is priced higher than the Founders Edition you mentioned.

Asus "tax" you are paying for the brand, along with other additional features, such as the 3x8 pin power with leds to show if your PSU is supplying enough power.

My only guess is contains nvidas best chips nvida has binned 3080s in three different categories average good and excellent My guess is that youre getting a excellent binned chip so it will boost to higher clocks

better cooler. more power... premium tax from AIB maker.. essential think of a founders edition as basic stock model of the 3080 series. ( although this FE is insanely great ) AIB 's - MSI/PNY/ASUS/EVGA/ZOTAC./ETC .. offer custom cooling solutions, more power going to the the board, essentially giving more room for OC if you are into that. and a different viewing aesthetic of the physical design.

Usually ROG STRIX Cards are made OC'd aswell as RGB settings, usually use better grade components to make the chasis of the card. we have to wait and see whats the difference to really know whats going on.

Because people can be fan boys(or fan girls). Sometimes people buy based on a name reputation, but it doesn't always make it the best nor the best value. For example EVGA makes some products that rival or beats Asus's ROG STRIX quality at a slightly cheaper price sometimes. I never go by repubutation alone, I like to get reviews and compares. Now on the other hand the ROG STRIX lower end products generally are overpriced and there's no reason to overpay if for it's a low wattage GPU because even ASUS has cheaper models that can handle the temps just because lower end products don't require as many power stages, a super heavy cooling system, a great VRM and a lot of wattage.

It is more expensive because it comes factory overclocked and also its Asus haha. Asus always charges more than their competitors. Another thing is the design of the card, and brand loyalty. I have always used and trusted Asus so that is the card I will be getting.

Typically it has to do the the VRM/power delivery as well as the larger coolers associated with the ROG STRIX. the FE cards are all made 1st party, so Nvidia can price accordingly since there arent other companies that may mark up hardware.

As other people stated are great facts. But what I haven't seen someone state is that this card is 15% faster than the founders edition. Look up Jay's 2 cents review of founders cards crashing. You may be surprised to find that this card doesn't cheap out on its components. Asus will always will be the better product. People saying its just the brand name have no idea what they are looking at. Asus has always set the standard for gaming and beyond. Its all in the name R.O.G REPUBLIC OF GAMERS!!!!!!!
