“I’m confused about the conflicting information about increasing ram with a 16GB or higher stick while maintaining dual channel mode due to the unremovable 8GB stick in the first slot. I’d like a firm answer hopefully from someone that’s run tests.”

You can't upgrade due to the first ram stick being soldered. I'm very satisfied with this laptop, but if I would have known before purchasing, I would have chosen another one since I do 3D and normally upgrade to 32gb immediately.
