Not sure if you still need this info, but I would not recommend using a PCIe 4.0 SSD in SSD slot 2. There is no good way to apply thermal pads or a heatsink. Also, double-sided SSD's wont fit well as there is a connector right under the SSD that will make contact with the SSD. Single-sided PCIe 3.0 SSD is the best. I see no reason why a 4TB SSD wouldn't work. I have 2TB in my SSD2.
